"Spruce" was built as a Victorian summer home in 1846 for Thomas Swan and his family. In 1933, the adjacent home to the left burned down and took with it the tower and damaged most of the gingerbread details on the house. The vacant lot was then combined with Spruce to allow for the wrap around porch, sun room, and recent deck addition off of the garage.
